Bridging the Gap Between Academia and Practice

Students develop practical solutions with mbits as part of the MEP project

Students from the Medical Informatics department at Technischen Hochschule Mannheim took part in the Medical Engineering Project (MEP), working over a ten-week period on real-world challenges in the field of medical software development. Divided into two groups, they developed practical solutions for specific tasks provided by an industry partner – supported by three tutors and supervised by Professors Markus Gubmel and Stefan Kraus.

The project is an integral part of the curriculum and is designed to give students the opportunity to work independently under realistic conditions. Communication with the external partner, project management, and technical implementation were entirely in the hands of the participants – an important step toward professional practice.

The final presentations took place last week in mbits' newly opened seminar room, just a few days after the company's move to its new office space. Through inspiring presentations, the students shared their project outcomes along with personal insights and lessons learned.

Thank you for your dedication, your innovative ideas, and a successful project completion. We wish you all the best for the rest of your studies and a strong end to the semester!
