For the establishment of improved stroke care<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our CEO, Dr. Ingmar Gergel, recently visited Nepal as part of the Nepal Stroke Project<\/a> to introduce a first version of our new app mStroke. The aim was to evaluate the feasibility of using the app in the Nepalese healthcare system and to determine how it could improve stroke care in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It became apparent that the local healthcare infrastructure presented some challenges that could be found in other areas of daily life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the destination in Province No. 1, no rain had fallen for months and the air was saturated with dust. Visibility was less than three kilometers even on the best days, so the Himalayas and Mount Everest could only be glimpsed. Domestic flights were therefore operated according to weather and visibility conditions and were sometimes cancelled at short notice. Nevertheless, our CEO was able to visit three hospitals and medical teams in Dharan and observe the stroke care there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das Mechi Hospital etwa arbeitet mit einem Internisten f\u00fcr die Intensivstation, einem Neurochirurgen und einem Radiologen. Im Koshi Hospital stehen perspektivisch sechs dedizierte Schlaganfallbetten zur Verf\u00fcgung. Das Team von Dr. Bhupendra am B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan wiederum ist aktuell noch das einzige  in der Provinz Nr. 1, das Schlaganfallpatienten eine Lyse verabreicht. Hier k\u00f6nnte mStroke als Dokumentations-App eingesetzt werden, um die Einhaltung von Zertifizierungskriterien zu demonstrieren. Der potenzielle Einsatz als tele-neurologisches Werkzeug steht noch am Anfang, da sich vielf\u00e4ltige Voraussetzungen noch in der Entwicklung befinden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diese Voraussetzungen zu fordern und f\u00f6rdern ist Aufgabe und Antrieb des \u201eNepal Stroke Project\u201c – einer Initiative der Neurologie der Uniklinik Heidelberg und der Nepal Stroke Association – das viele Akteure wie die World Health Organization (WHO) und World Stroke Organization (WSO) vereint und von der Initiative Klinikpartnerschaften der GIZ unterst\u00fctzt wird. Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Gesundheitsfachkr\u00e4ften k\u00f6nnen wir dazu beitragen, die Kluft zwischen modernster Schlaganfallversorgung und unterversorgten Gemeinden zu \u00fcberbr\u00fccken und mit mStroke eine Verbesserung der Schlaganfallversorgung in ressourcenbegrenzten Regionen gew\u00e4hrleisten.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
